Please meet a few of our volunteers!
Holly Trolley Toscano – Nurse Volunteer
What inspired you to join Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada?
I feel there is a real need in Nevada for those without insurance coverage. Today’s economy is in real crisis and hard working people are without insurance or go without medical care to buy food or other necessities. I have known Dr. Jameson for over twenty years. She is my personal physician and friend. When she told me about Volunteers in Medicine, I immediately wanted to volunteer.
Why do you enjoy making Las Vegas your home?
I love the warm weather, 24-hour town, concerts and entertainment and closeness of the mountains and ocean.
What does "giving back" mean to you?
Volunteering my nursing is a way of giving back to the community and helping those in need.
What's special to you about Southern Nevada?
There are people from everywhere and all cultures. I love meeting new people.
How long have you lived in Las Vegas?
I moved here in 1980 from West Virginia. I was a LPN and got my RN at UNLV while working at Sunrise the entire time. I love nursing and have worked in all areas of nursing. I am going on my 30th year here in Vegas and still love it. I plan to work at Sunrise until I retire; then, I can volunteer more hours.
Anything else?
I recently married the love of my life, Danny. I had to keep the name Holly Trolley but added his name, Toscano. I have a loving, loud Italian family and we spend a lot of fun times together.
