Chike Okolo, Clinical Pharmacist
Volunteer Clinical Pharmacist "Ask A Pharmacist" Program
Chike Okolo has been volunteering as a Clinical Pharmacist in our “Ask a Pharmacist” program at VMSN since May of 2016. He is a dedicated and committed pharmacist who counsels VMSN patients every week. With an impressive background working at the VA in oncology, and currently an assistant professor at Roseman University of Health Sciences teaching, pain and mental health courses. His passion has always been to work in ambulatory care and help patients with chronic medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension. “What I love about working a VMSN is the diversity of the patients and helping them manage their diabetes which is what I did in my residency at a diabetes clinic.”
For Chike, the best part of his day is when patients with high blood glucose come in to speak with him for the first time and within 6 to 9 months, we bring down their levels and their condition becomes more manageable.
“For many patients these health challenges have been accumulating over a period of years, so you need to spend time with them on a regular basis and make sure they are taking their medications correctly, in addition to helping them to make lifestyle changes that includes diet and exercise. It is more than just thinking medications will take care of the problem alone.”
VMSN is so grateful to have volunteers like Chike who not only lend their time, expertise and knowledge in their specific medical background, but who also have a desire to give back.
Chike volunteers several times a week counseling and educating our patients on their health. With a great attitude and caring attitude, VMSN and our Patients are so grateful to have Chike as part of the VMSN Volunteer Team.
VMSN thanks Chike Okolo for all you do for our patients!
